Royal Deeside - Art Exhibitions, Crafts, Artists & Art Galleries

Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms has a very active artistic community, much of whose work is strongly influenced by the landscapes and people they work amongst.

Almost every town and village has galleries and craft workshops showcasing local arts and crafts and you will come across artists and craft workers in some of the most remote corners of our area. Even the legendary hamlet of Lost in Strathdon boasts its own Lost Gallery.

Visit Platform 22 Pottery & Ceramics Studio in Torphins. It has a gallery and a cafe and has just been rated as a 3 star Vist Scotland Vistor Attraction www.platform22.co.uk

Work of a range of local and Scottish artists of all media can be seen at the Milton Arts & Crafts Village near Banchory, and details of local artists and craft workers can be accessed on the websites of Creative Cairngorms (www.creativecairngorms.co.uk) and Kincardine & Deeside Arts Forum (www.woodendbarn.plus.com).

In September each year, dozens of local artists invite the public into their studios and workshops as part of North East Open Studios. Full details of all participating artists can be found at www.northeastopenstudios.co.uk.

Creative Cairngorms, the group of artists living and working in the Cairngorms National Park, are looking forward to welcoming visitors to their five month long programme of Summer art exhibitions, which begins on Royal Deeside at the Victoria Hall, Ballater, in May.

Launching their new Cairngorm National Park family brand logo, the artists are proud to be representing the quality and creativity of art and craft across the National Park. Established and new members will be offering an exciting variety of mediums, styles and prices. Paintings in oils, watercolour and acrylic, photography and sculpture, as well as a variety of hand made crafts. Engraved and stained glass, driftwood mirrors, funky clothes, ceramics, prints and a wide choice of artists cards, should offer something for everyone to enjoy.
