The Dee was once again one of the top Spring Salmon rivers in the world in 2010 with catches in Deeside higher than anywhere for Atlantic salmon. Good angling / fishing beats are available at Banchory, Kincardine O'Neil, Aboyne, Ballater and Braemar. The River Dee is the top spring salmon river in the world and runs through the heart of Royal Deeside. Catches of Atlantic Salmon are higher than anywhere in the world!

Glen Tanar Estate - 4 fly-based salmon fishing beats can be booked by the week, part-week or the day. Fishing with a ghillie is mandatory in the Spring, but optional during summer. Loch Kinord Hotel at Dinnet has an association on the River Feugh for fishing and Ghillie who will pick up from the hotel and return back. The Feugh opens 1st June but usually has daily availability when the Dee is fully booked. It is also a good trout river. www.lochkinord.com
All beats on the River Dee follow a voluntary code of practice to return all caught salmon to the river in order to conserve and manage stocks.

Balmoral Estate
The Balmoral Estate is the Scottish home to the British Royal Family. The estate is open to the public from April to the end of July each year. Visitors can enjoy an audio tour, included in the admission charge which guides them around the gardens, grounds and exhibitions of this unique Highland estate. The coffee shop on site seats 100 and serves light snacks and meals with a Highland flavour along with the gift shop which has both gifts with a Scottish and Royal theme. Visitors who would like to stay longer on the estate can book one of our 6 holiday cottages with the unique privilege of being able to play on the Balmoral 9 hole golf course. Salmon fishing is available on the river Dee which flows through the estate. The Queens Highland and Fell ponies are available for pony trekking throughout the open season and we offer a series of 2hr, day, evening and even two day trail rides. Wildlife safaris are also on offer with the Ranger Service; a fantastic way to explore the scenery and wildlife of this special place.

The River Dee is internationally famous for its salmon fishing, and especially so for its multi-sea winter spring salmon, with anglers coming from all over the world to fish it. Over 40 of the River Dee's salmon beats are included on the site which is over 90% of the fishing beats. You can see its current fishing availability and book vitually all your fishing online 24/7 or by telephone. The website provides an automated daily river levels page with local weather report - river levels are updated twice daily during the salmon season and most beats report salmon & sea trout catches nightly on the site. The website provides a detailed weekly catches report and a prospects information for the following week, throughout the whole fishing season from February to October. FishDee attracts 2 million page views annually and provides an excellent vehicle for service providers to be discovered by visitors planning a visit to Deeside.
